By now you have heard Disney have fired James Gunn, director of Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, about some tweets he made between 2008-2012. Some big names came out to support James but to no avail. There was an online petition to get Disney to hire him back.
In July 30, 2018 the cast of GOTG released a joint statement in support of him. Disney also took a courtesy meeting with James and his agent. However Disney is staying firm on their decision. Back in August, Disney said to put the 3rd GOTG on hold, telling all the pre-production workers to find another job.
I actually don’t think they should make the 3rd GOTG. This is going to be a re-occurring issue if Disney decide to make the movie. Whoever Disney pick for the director, he or she will be criticized, when the movie starts production, when the trailer comes out, when the movie comes out, etc. If the movie bombs at the box office, fans will complain that Gunn should have directed the move. This issue is not going away anytime soon. For Disney to avoid all this distraction, don’t make the 3rd GOTG movie. Also Dave Bautista, the actor who played Drax, has been very vocal and critical of Disney.
Bad news for fans of Guardians of Galaxy but great news for DC as they have hired him to be a writer for Suicide Squad and perhaps directed by him. Suicide Squad came out in 2016. That movie was trashed by critics but I actually enjoyed the movie. This movie starred Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, etc. WB stated the new Suicide Squad movie will be out on August 6, 2021. News came out that the production of the movie will start later this year.
The new Suicide Squad movie will have Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, Ratcatcher, Polka Dot Man and Peacemaker. The first two (Harley Quinn an Deadshot) are A list characters. King Shark is a C list character, The rest of them are D list characters. The D list characters will probably die in the movie in my opinion.
This blog will talk about King Shark, Check out my future blog for the other characters.
King Shark first appeared in Superboy volume 4 #0 (October 1994) as a cameo. His first full appearance in Superboy vol 4 #9 (November 1994). King Shark has superhuman strength and enhanced senses. He appeared regularly in CW The Flash tv show.
A copy of Superboy volume 4 #9 CGC 9.8 sold for $89.95 on January 16. No recent sales on ebay after the announcement.
