Krypto the Superdog

Happy National Dog Day was yesterday, to honor that I will be blogging about a dog. There are lots of dogs in the comic books. The one dog that popped in my head is Krypto the Superdog, Superman’s pet dog.

Krypto the Superdog first appeared Adventure Comics #210 (March 1955) published by DC Comics created by Otto Binder and Kurt Swain.

On Krypton, they originally put Kal-El’s dog in the rocket to test it out first. The rocket launched and went off-course. The rocket drifted into space for years  and eventually landed on Earth. Now Krypto is reunited with grown Kal-El called Superboy.

Krypto has the same power as Superboy but with better smell and hearing.

WB is developing a movie called Super Pets similar to cartoon show in Cartoon Network. That team of animals include Krypto the Superdog, Streaky the Cat and Aquaman’s pet octopus. Super Pets will be written by Jared Stern and John Whittington, who created by The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie.

A recent copy of Adventure Comics #210 CGC 5.0 sold for $2,425.00 on July 2.
