Margot Robbie who played Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad said in early July Birds of Prey will begin production in January 2019 with Kathy Yan to direct the film with the screenplay by Christina Hodson. Kathy is an American and Chinese director famous for directing Groomed (2016) and Dead Pigs (2017). Kristina is an American screenwriter famous for her writing of  Unforgettable (2017) and Bumblebee(December 2018). In April 2018, DC Comics tapped her to write Batgirl movie.
Birds of Prey comic books published by DC Comics came out November 1995 titled Black Canary/Oracle:Birds of Prey written by Chuck Dixon and drawn by Jordan Gorfinkel. The original team was Black Canary and Barbara Gorden (former Batgirl)-now called Oracle. Other superheroes have joined and left. Huntress was a staple to this team.
We are now hearing that Harley Quinn, Black Canary, Huntress, Cassandra Cain and Renee Montoya will be part of a team against Black Mask. See my earlier post about Black Mask, main villain, in Birds of Prey
This blog will talk about Huntress. She, Helena Bertinelli,  first appeared in Huntress #1(April 1989) published by DC Comics written by Joey Cavalieri  and drawn by Joe Staton . Helena is a skilled gymnast with great hand-to-hand combat.
Helena was born in a Mafia family. She was kidnapped as a child. When she was rescued, her parents sent her to a boarding school with a bodyguard where she learned hand-to-hand combat. After she witnessed the murder of her parents by the mafia, she started her journey to put an end to the mafia. She went to Gotham and made her debut as Huntress.
Huntress had appeared in CW TV show Arrow. In that show, she wanted to kill her father because her father had her fiancé killed.
Huntress and Black Canary had ties to Arrow show. Will we see Green Arrow in Birds of Prey? Probably not. See my earlier blog about  Black Canary in Birds of Prey.
Are you looking forward to seeing the Huntress in Birds of Prey?
